    Newspaper 12 Jul 1947  [5] – Book
    • WE OF THE .TURNING TIDE," by David Good hart (F. W. Preece Ltd., Adelaide). Coinciding with the visit of Vis count Montgomery to Australia. this book makes its appearance with its dedication "to those who lie in El Alamein cemetery-silent witnesses that great deeds were done." It is pointed out that over seas books now in Australia have touched on Alamein, but still leave the impression that it was a tank battle. Here is the Aus tralian version of a campaign .0ow recognised as ranking with Water too and Trafalgar. As a memento of the 9th Division there could hardly be a fitter publication, for in it full credit for their magnificent feat of arms is given, outside official summaries, to the Aus tralian infantry There is a preface by Brigadier T. C.. Eastick, D.S.O., E.D., C.S.S., and here is an extract from the author's preamble: "There are moments in British history which can be looked back to afterwards for men to record their conviction that at such and such a moment the course of history was changed." Alamein belongs to that select company of moments. The book has a full-page autographed picture of Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein as the opening in terest, and the dust jacket in four colours incorporates the colour patches of all Australian units which served with the 9th Division.
